About 1337 Wine

Greetings and Salutations! Welcome to 1337 Wine, your leet wine resource. This is the home of 1337 Wine TV where I invite you to join me in a journey of expanding and improving the palette palate and nose. Wines reviewed are typically $10 or less. In addition to reviews there will be “in the field” reviews at restaurants where I will look for wines by the glass that are $10 or less and see how they pair with dinner. Other plans are to visit wineries in the Central and South Central areas of Texas.

In addition to 1337 Wine TV, there is the Library. An ever expanding source of study material for those looking to delve much deeper into wine, spirits, beer, cigars, and service – everything the aspiring Sommelier needs. Here you can directly purchase recommended books and other reference material via Amazon.

Speaking of Sommelier. Another section of the site is called Sommelier School. In this section I hope you will also join me in my journey to prepare for the Introductory Sommelier Exam. Each week there will be a new lesson for you to follow. By the end I hope that it will be as complete a course as possible to prepare someone who doesn’t have the luxury of being in a study group. This section is the study group and I hope that the forum will be a great place for people to exchange ideas and information.

There is also an expanding list of links for you. These are places all over the internet for additional information. It’s an eclectic collection of websites including cooperage, pronunciations, magazines, court of master sommeliers, and other places.

And finally, the Marketplace. A different Amazon page for you to find accessories ranging from corkscrews, stemware, stoppers, decanters, etc.

So why 1337 Wine? What is this leet wine thing? Well, in something that is called “leet speak” (aka elite speak) numbers can be used to represent letters. In this case, 1 = L, 3 = E, 7 = T – LEET. If you watch Episode 1 I briefly explain what happened. Here I will go into a little more depth. I saw a wine bottle at an angle that had “337″ on it. I thought it might have been “1337.” Unfortunately it was just 337. So I decided that to call a wine 1337 would be epic and geeks from far and wide would buy it. I immediately went to Go Daddy to buy that domain. For a couple months I tried to figure out what I was going to do with this domain. The idea of doing wine reviews came to mind since it would be a long time before I could afford to create 1337 as a wine. I then remembered that I was also going to do a blog called “Sommelier in Training.” That never got off the ground. So here you see all my wine website ideas in one place. Hopefully, one day, you will be able to buy 1337 Wine in a store near you.

Until then…

Thanks for stopping in,
